Privacy
OROS keeps as little about people as the work needs. Visitors talk to OROS anonymously. We never sell personal data, and never share it for anyone else’s marketing.

Who we are
OROS HOUSE LIMITED, registered in England and Wales, company number 17552694, is the controller of the personal data described here. For anything about your data, write to hello@oros.house.
Talking with Daniel on this site
- Conversations on oros.house are not saved. What you say is turned into text, answered and spoken back as you talk, then discarded.
- Your voice is never recorded, and no transcript is kept, by us or by our voice provider. That includes anything personal you mention.
- We never ask your name. The site asks for your microphone only when you tap Meet Daniel Lismore, and uses it only while you talk.
- Your words pass through our voice and language providers in the United States, only to make the conversation work. Nothing you say is used to train any system, ours or anyone else’s.
- To carry the conversation, the provider sees your device’s internet address, as any website does. It keeps a record that a conversation took place, with its time and length, so we can count how many people spoke. That record holds nothing you said.
We rely on our legitimate interest in letting people talk with the work.
At exhibitions
- An OROS on show listens when someone comes near and answers in the icon’s voice. There is no camera: the sensor measures distance only.
- Your voice is turned into text as you speak and never recorded. No name is asked, and nothing identifies who is speaking.
- The piece keeps an anonymous log of how it performed, so we can fill gaps in what it knows and catch wrong answers. Only the OROS team reads it, and it is deleted within 30 days of the show closing.
- Children may talk to OROS at exhibitions. Nothing is kept that could identify them.
- We share what we learn only as numbers: how many people spoke, for how long and in which languages.
Visiting this site
- The site sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising trackers.
- It remembers in your own browser whether you turned the music off, and which piece played. That stays on your device.
- Our host, Bluehost, keeps standard server logs, such as internet address, page requested and time, to run and protect the site.
If you write to us
When you email hello@oros.house, we keep your name, address and message so we can reply. Enquiries are deleted two years after we last hear from you, unless a sale, a contract or the law needs us to keep them longer.
Icons and their material
An icon’s image, voice and words are licensed, approved by the icon or their estate, and used for OROS alone. They are never used in another product or for anything else.
Your rights
You can ask what we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, or object to how we use it. Write to hello@oros.house. We reply within one month, free of charge.
Conversations are anonymous, so there is usually nothing to link to you, and on this site nothing is saved. If you talked to an OROS at an exhibition, tell us the place, date and time, and we will look for that conversation and delete it while the log still exists.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, tell us and we will look into it. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
